The Met Police allege he “elicited or attempted to elicit information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism” in August 2021.

He is also accused of placing an article “with the intention of inducing in another a belief that the said article was likely to explode or ignite and thereby cause personal injury or damage to property”.

The second offence is said to have happened at the start of this month.

Both allegedly happened in the town of Beaconside.

Khalif was charged on Friday following an investigation by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.

He remains in police custody and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 28.
